Cuernavaca has become a battleground for control of the Beltran Leyva cartel since its leader, Arturo Beltran Leyva, was killed after a shootout with Marines earlier this year in December.
A gang led by kingpin Hector Beltran Leyva took responsibility for the killings in a message left with the bodies, the attorney general’s office of

Urban legend comes to life: Crocodile hiding under car shocks Queens NY

A crocodile caused a commotion in Queens Sunday when it was cornered under a car.
Yes, a crocodile.
“Before you ask, no cops could confirm it came out of the sewer,” said police spokesman James Duffy, referring to an urban legend that such reptiles live in the city’s sewer system.
Duffy said it remained a mystery where the 2-foot-long baby reptile came from.
“No one’s come forward and said, ‘Hey, I lost a crocodile,’” said Duffy, adding that cops initially thought that the creature was an alligator.
Pictures of the creature suggest it might indeed be a gator, which have U-shaped snouts while crocodiles’ are V-shaped.
Indian man killed by exploding mobile phone

In a country where remote farmers and corporate suits share a similar passion for mobile phones, a lot of strange things can happen. Such is the case in Bandha village where a 23-year old man was killed by an exploding cell phone. The man, identified as Gopal Gujjar, was tending to grazing cattle and reportedly talking on his cell phone when it literally explode in his face. In the aftermath of the explosion, the unfortunate man was found dead with burns to his left ear, neck, and shoulders. Pieces of his cell phone, a Nokia 1209 if you were wondering, were found scattered around him.
Interestingly enough, this is one of the first reported cases in India of a cell phone exploding when it was not charging. Other incidents of deadly mobile phones and phone explosions have been reported but many of them occurred while the phone was plugged in and charging. Wonder what happened to this Nokia 1209 that caused it to explode with such fury? Anyone have a reasonable theory?
Celebrity surgeon dies while tweeting from behind the wheel…dog lives though…

Tweeting while driving is the rumored cause of a fatal accident earlier this week that claimed the life of celebrity surgeon, Dr. Frank Ryan. According to unconfirmed reports, the famed plastic surgeon was reportedly delivering his final tweet when he lost control of his car and went over a cliff. Ryan was joined in the car by his prized border collie who survived the crash and was the subject of his final and now dreadfully ominous tweet.
Ryan is not alone in tweeting while driving, a study earlier this year revealed that 73 out of 100 drivers admitted to texting while driving, even though they knew such behavior was dangerous and/or illegal. A more recent survey suggested that 27% of adult drivers are actively banging out a text message while behind the wheel. That figure climbs up to 47% when you add in the equally dangerous combination of both sending and reading a text message while driving.
Over fourteen states have legislation on the books that ban this dangerous practice, including California, the home state of Dr. Ryan. Time and again, stories such as this show that the threat of a stiff fine is not enough to dissuade folks from squeezing out a quick text on the way home from an outing.
Most of the time, the driver manages to text and drive without any ramifications while other times, this decision can be deadly. While we don’t claim to be able to speak to the dead, we can say with some assurance that most folks who have been injured or killed as a result of texting and driving would counsel others to put that phone down and pay attention to the road. Sage advice, don’t you agree?
